Everton vs Brighton betting tips

Brighton are now above Everton in the Premier League table due to these teams’ contrasting runs of form and they can sustain their fine spell by claiming a point on their trip to Merseyside.

At the start of the season, Everton fans would have been horrified to be told their club would be level on points with Brighton heading into mid-March, but that is the scenario and with the Seagulls certainly the more upwardly mobile of the two sides.

Like the Toffees, Brighton have a seven-point buffer over the relegation zone as this duo sit slap bang in the middle of the table and Chris Hughton’s side, who edge Saturday’s opponents on goal difference, have won four of their last six league and cup matches and drawn the other two.

Those results have carried them through to the FA Cup quarter-finals and they will make a return visit to the North West next weekend to face Manchester United in that competition.

Everton, on the other hand, have won only twice since December 18, but at least both of those victories, over Leicester and Crystal Palace, were at home to offer some encouragement here.

The problem, however, is that Sam Allardyce’s side have gone right off the boil on their travels, to the point where the continual defeats – now six in succession on the road – must affect the confidence when they turn out at Goodison Park.

A winning position at half time was thrown away at Burnley last week in another 2-1 setback and defender Ashley Williams, who, along with his central defensive partner Michael Keane, had not impressed anyway, will be suspended here after being sent off for wrapping an arm around Ashley Barnes’ head at an attacking set-piece.

Home advantage could bring out a different Everton with more belief in front of their own fans, but Brighton are going along very nicely at present and are fancied to gain a point.
