Chelsea vs Leicester City predictions for Saturday’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge. Victory for Chelsea would put them second in the table. Read on for our free predictions and betting tips.

This is the second of three home matches in seven days for Chelsea and it’s expected to result in a win that, temporarily at least, lifts them to second place in the Premier League table.

Going into Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal, the Blues had lost only one of their 16 games since the start of November and must be hopeful that at least one trophy will be residing at Stamford Bridge come the end of the season.

But there is no end in sight to Chelsea’s hectic schedule of fixtures because they created an extra problem when Antonio Conte’s much-changed team performed disappointingly away to Norwich in the FA Cup third round last weekend and a 0-0 draw generated a replay on Tuesday – plus, of course, the Champions League returns next month.

Leicester also need another shot at reaching the FA Cup fourth round because their tie at Fleetwood ended goalless too, although for Chelsea’s predecessors as champions it matters less because they are contesting two fewer competitions than Saturday’s opponents.

Chelsea, of course, bought Leicester’s title-winning central midfielders over the course of the last two summers and so the Foxes may find themselves up against both N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater here, although it’s the future of winger Riyad Mahrez that is currently the hot topic in the East Midlands.

Mahrez has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, who have almost £150million to spend after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, but Arsenal and even Chelsea are claimed to be interested in the Algerian and so his participation, or otherwise, here will be interesting.

After a strong start to Claude Puel’s tenure as Leicester manager their form has been less convincing over the last seven games, during which the only victory was 3-0 at home to Huddersfield on New Year’s Day.

Unless Chelsea are overly fatigued from Wednesday’s match against Arsenal, they should win this game and can move up to second before Manchester United play Stoke on Monday.
