Brighton vs Tottenham betting preview

Despite having little else other than league position to play for at the end of this season, Saturday’s defeat will have hurt Brighton after they lost 3-2 away to rivals Crystal Palace, who in turn boosted their survival hopes. The Seagulls had no answer for the in-form Wilfried Zaha on the afternoon, who was in excellent form throughout, taking advantage of some uncharacteristically poor defending from Chris Hughton’s men.

With no wins in any of their last four games in the Premier League, it seems Brighton have begun to take their foot off the gas in recent weeks, with their place in the top flight next season looking pretty assured at this point, No side in the bottom half of the table has fewer defeats than the 14 the Seagulls have so far this season, highlighting their gritty style and ability to stay within games.

Tottenham meanwhile saw their hopes of finishing in the top three dealt a blow on Saturday night, as Manchester City ended their recent slump with a quality 3-1 win at Wembley Stadium. Mauricio Pochettino’s side ran into City at perhaps the worst possible time, as they showed they were able to respond in the face of adversity following three consecutive defeats.

There was no goal for Harry Kane this time around, who is now five goals behind Liverpool’s Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. With Spurs currently seven points clear of Chelsea in 5th, they look in no danger of losing their place in the Champions League for next season and are set to enjoy a relatively nice run-in, facing no side in the top seven in their final five games. They play in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend, which could well see Pochettino rotate his squad for this fixture.

Brighton vs Tottenham predictions

Brighton’s recent slump is something Tottenham should be looking to take full advantage of here. They are priced at 17/20 to win the first half with William Hill.

Harry Kane has been the target of most people’s jokes on social media in recent weeks and should come out with a point to prove, as well as needing five goals to catch Mo Salah. Kane is 12/5 to score first with Betfair.
