Brighton v Coventry betting preview

Brighton & Hove Albion have been stronger than expected in their first Premier League season so far. Given the struggles that Chris Hughton faced in the top tier in his last job at Norwich City, many pundits and supporters expected a tough season for the Seagulls this time around and although they're certainly not completely safe from relegation in a very tight bottom half of the table, they will be happy if they finish as high as 14th, where they currently sit right now.

The FA Cup has proven to be a momentum-boosting competition also for the South Coast club so far. After beating arch-rivals Crystal Palace in the Third Round, they overcame Middlesbrough at the end of last month away from home to kickstart an important unbeaten run that has been stretched to fourth place prior to this home fixture against Coventry. Can they extend it to five with another win here at 2/5 with Betfred.

It's been a tough old time to be a Coventry City fan in recent years. The club have famously failed to finish in the top six of any league table in 30 years now and in that time they've slid from the top tier, right down to the basement division of the Football League. What's more, supporters have become increasingly infuriated with the running of the club, with regular protests stages against the unpopular owners the Otium Entertainment Group.

As things stand in the League Two table the Sky Blues are currently sitting just two points outside of the play-off places with supporters desperate for a play-off place at the very least in this campaign, although their chances have been dealt a blow in the last few weeks with back-to-back defeats to Forest Green Rovers and Accrington Stanley. They have however, beaten two higher-league outfits in the FA cup so far, can they make it three here at 8/1 with Coral.

Unfortunately for the travelling supporters here, he will descend upon the south coast en masse as they did at Milton Keynes in the last round, we're anticipating a tough afternoon. This match represents a real chance for Brighton to reach the final eight stage of the FA Cup for the first since since 1986 and with the gap in quality between the two sides on paper, we fancy them to do so with relative ease and are backing the home side on the half-time/full-time bet at 6/5 with Ladbrokes.

Glenn Murray's experience was always going to be pivotal for Brighton this season and the former Bournemouth man has chipped in with eight vital Premier League goals so far. The 34 year old has also put in two fine performances in the FA Cup, scoring the winner in both their Third Round and Fourth Round victories against Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough. We're backing him to make it three in three in the FA Cup this season with another goal here at 28/29 with Unibet.

Recommended bets:
Brighton half-time/full-time @ 6/5 with Ladbrokes
Glenn Murray to score at any time @ 28/29 with Unibet
