Bournemouth were left devastated at the final whistle at the King Power Stadium last weekend, after losing their one goal lead - earned thanks to Josh King’s penalty - to a 97th minute equaliser from Riyad Mahrez. The Cherries would’ve came into this weekend’s game in the top half had they came away with all three points, instead settling for 12th in the league, six points above the relegation zone.

It’s now no wins in three for Eddie Howe’s team, who have also suffered a 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield and 2-2 draw at home to Newcastle in this recent slump against teams they would hope to get more points against. What hasn’t waned during this spell is their efficiency in front of goal, with the Cherries still boasting a strong goalscoring record. Scoring 13 goals in their last six games at the Vitality, they will pose a serious threat to Tottenham this weekend.

Tottenham’s young pretenders were upstaged by the experience of Juventus at Wembley on Wednesday, being eliminated from the Champions League as the Serie A side came back from a goal deficit to win 2-1, progressing 4-3 on aggregate. It was a valuable lesson for this young team in how ruthless football can be at the top level if you don’t take your chances or kill teams off early.

The attention for Tottenham now turns to trying to finish in the top four and achieve FA Cup glory, with this weekend representing a huge opportunity for their ambition of achieving the former, with Manchester United and Liverpool both facing each other on Saturday. Dropped points there for either or both sides will inevitably open the door for 4th-placed Tottenham to make ground on those above them.

Harry Kane will be relishing the chance to face the Cherries this weekend, having scored six goals in just four games against them - enjoying his best goals-to-game ratio in the Premier League against them. That includes a hat-trick in his only visit to the Vitality Stadium in 2015/16, missing last season’s trip through injury.

Bournemouth will be confident of getting a result here after taking 11 points from a possible 15 in their last five games at home. That run includes a 2-1 win over Arsenal and beat Chelsea 3-0 away from home as recently as January 31, showing they are capable of upsetting the big boys on their day
