Bolton Wanderers v Bury betting preview

Bolton Wanderers are fighting for an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship. The Trotters have been struggling off the field for some time now and it doesn't seem too long ago since they were battling against some of Europe's top teams in the Europa League, so failure to earn a promotion to the second tier this season would be something of an embarrassment.

Former player Phil Parkinson is in the dugout at the Macron Stadium and he has had some harsh words for his side as they've lost their last two games against Scunthorpe and Oldham, meaning the gap between themselves and third place has been cut to just one point and meaning they require a vital three points from this one at odds of 4/6 with Sky Bet.

Making the very short trip to the Macron Stadium for this one are relegation threatened Bury. In fact, should results go against them on Monday afternoon, then the fellow Lancastrian side could be heading to their neighbours ground in the relegation zone as the likes of Port Vale and Swindon Town are hot on the heels of the struggling Shakers.

The decision to hire former Huddersfield boss Lee Clark seemed to have done the trick for Bury as he led the side to some improved performances in his first few games but now they've gone five games without earning a victory and having managed to score just once in those matches, an away victory looks unlikely here at odds of 11/2 with bet365.

Bury's struggles in front of goal have been clear of late and with star striker James Vaughan clearly misfiring, the Trotters will feel they have the defensive capabilities to earn the three points on the back of a solid backline display. Bolton have the best defensive record in League One this season and we fancy them to win another game to nil here at 15/8 with Sky Bet.

At the other end of the field the Trotters have struggled at times but in Adam Le Fondre, they possess a forward who knows how to find the net at this level. The former Reading and Rotherham man has found the net four times since returning to the Macron Stadium on loan and we think he'll get the better of the Bury defence to grab a fifth here at 6/4 with Ladbrokes.

Recommended bets:
Bolton to win to nil @ 15/8 with Sky Bet
Adam Le Fondre to score at any time @ 6/4 with Ladbrokes
