The FA Cup winners, whose manager Arsene Wenger has extended his stay with the club by two more years, first head to Australia for two matches in three days against Sydney’s A-League clubs.

Sydney FC are the initial opponents for the Gunners on Thursday July 13 at the ANZ Stadium and two days later, Western Sydney Wanderers play host to Arsenal at the same venue.

From there, Wenger and his squad head to Asia for two games, one of which is in the International Champions Cup as they take part in the Chinese section of that series.

That match is against Bayern Munich, Arsenal’s perennial Champions League nemesis, on Wednesday July 19 in Shanghai. The clubs will not meet in Europe’s premier club competition in 2017-18, however, with Arsenal having finished fifth in the Premier League and they will contest the Europa League instead.

Then, in Beijing, comes the first of two pre-season meetings with Chelsea, whom Arsenal denied the Double when they won 2-1 against the Premier League champions in the FA Cup Final to lift the trophy for the third time in four seasons.

After flying back to England, Arsenal have a week in between matches as their next commitment is the Emirates Cup, which they host and is back on the schedule after a break in 2016 while the pitch at their stadium was being renovated.

Their two fixtures in that tournament have been confirmed and Benfica will provide the opposition on Saturday July 29 and Sevilla the following day. Red Bull Salzburg are the other team involved and rather than semi-finals and a final, the overall winner is decided by means of goal difference, goals scored and even the number of shots on target if necessary.

The following weekend, which is the last one before the start of the Premier League season, Arsenal aim to continue their excellent Wembley form in the FA Community Shield which they are also trying to lift for a third time in four years having beaten Chelsea in 2015 and Manchester City in 2014.
