West Brom v Aston Villa Predictions

West Bromwich Albion are looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking after being relegated to the Championship last term. Darren Moore was appointed as the club's head coach towards the end of the campaign and although he managed to turn around their fortunes somewhat with some improved form, they were already all-but relegated following the disastrous spell of Alan Pardew before him.

As you would expect after any relegation, the Baggies lost some players over the summer but they added some real Championship quality to their squad and in a tight Championship title race, they currently find themselves in third place with 20 games on the board and given that they have the opportunity to play before the rest of the league, if they can extend their unbeaten run to five games with a win here at 5/4 with Betfair they can go within two points of the leaders Norwich City.

Aston Villa came close to returning to the Premier League last season but were eventually bested by Fulham in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium. Perhaps owing somewhat to the players' dented confidence following that May defeat, Steve Bruce was unable to get the players performing in the early stages of this campaign and as such he was sacked and replaced by Brentford boss Dean Smith.

Smith has enjoyed a strong start to life back in the Midlands after his spell with Walsall and his Villains side make the short trip to West Bromwich on Wednesday night on the back of a five game unbeaten run that has included impressive away wins over fellow promotion candidates Middlesbrough and Derby County. Can they topple another of the teams above them with a win at the Hawthorns at odds of 21/10 with Betway.

West Brom v Aston Villa betting tips

We're backing goals galore in this game. Aston Villa were involved in that stunning 5-5 draw with Nottingham Forest just over a week ago and that means they've now conceded seven times but scored 17 in the same period with their last four games all seeing three or more goals scored. Both teams have found the net in six of West Bromwich Albion's last seven games so over 2.5 goals again seems another banker here at 6/10 with William Hill.

Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham found the net no fewer than four times in that draw with Nottingham Forest which means he has now found the net seven times in his last four matches, taking his overall Championship tally for the season up to 11 goals in just 14 games. We can't resist backing the 21 year old for another goal in this game at odds of 6/4 with Betway.

West Brom v Aston Villa best odds
