Middlesbrough v Blackburn Predictions

Middlesbrough have seen their eight-match unbeaten streak ended by Aston Villa (0-3) last week and now host Blackburn Rovers looking for a prompt return to the winning ways, sitting five points behind Championship pace-setters Norwich and desperate to catch up.

Boro have been very solid at the back in front of the home fans and this is also why the Saturday shock came as more of a surprise, but Tony Pulis will want his men to recuperate quickly. They’ve kept three clean sheets in four home outings beforehand and this is bound to have them just as motivated.

Blackburn come into the match on the back of a thriller 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday, where they ended a three-match winless streak – giving them a ground to build on as they sit six points behind the 3rd placed rivals, aside from fine head-to-head records against Middlesbrough.

Rovers have been scoring goals but struggled to make an impact away from home, which could be the main reason holding them back from climbing the table. They’ve earned just one point in last four trips and this should be very worrying for the travelling fans too.

Indeed, Rovers have struggled for points on the road lately and we do see Boro capitalizing on it. However, we feel they’ll have to base such a success on a tough defensive display once again and we’ll thus back them to keep a clean sheet too at Evens with William Hill
