New York City v Orlando City betting preview

New York City's first few seasons in Major League Soccer have been very progressive ones. The club's first year was unsurprisingly a difficult one but last year, the quality of players like David Villa and Andrea Pirlo shone through more and NYCFC were able to finish second in the Eastern Conference although their play-off campaign wasn't a successful one.

It's been a fairly decent start to the season for Patrick Vieira's men. The ex-Arsenal man, who is being linked with a possible move to the Emirates Stadium, has led his side to three wins and a draw from six games so far, including an impressive road victory over Philadelphia Union last time out. The home win here is 4/6 with Sky Bet.

Orlando City will have been disappointed with their first two seasons as a Major League Soccer franchise. Despite possessing some quality players, the Lions have failed to find consistency and as such, have missed out on the play-offs in both terms, even deciding to replace boss Adrian Heath with Jason Kreis half way through their last campaign.

After having the summer to work on his squad, Kreiss will be happy with the way his side have started the new season. In their first five matches, the men in Purple have looked confident in picking up four victories, although all four of those wins have come on home soil at the Camping World Stadium so a win here at odds of 23/5 with Marathonbet would be their first on the road this term.

New York City have been an attack-mined side throughout Vieira's reign and they're yet to keep a clean sheet this term. In players like Brazilian legend Kaka and Canadian star Cyle Larin, the visitors have more than enough quality to get themselves on the scoresheet here but we expect the hosts to earn all three points. The match result and both teams to score bet is priced at 2/1 with bet365.

In the shape of David Villa, NYCFC possess arguably the most dangerous striker in all of Major League Soccer. The former Barcelona forward racked up no fewer than 23 goals in just 35 appearances last season and he's started the new campaign with four goals in his first six games including a delightful lob against Philadelphia Union. He's our 5/6 anytime scorer pick here with Ladbrokes.

Recommended bets:
New York City to win and both teams to score @ 2/1 with bet365
David Villa to score at any time @ 5/6 with Ladbrokes
