West Ham want to sign Olivier Giroud this summer

Could Olivier Giroud join West Ham this summer?

Olivier Giroud's Arsenal future is up in the air and the latest club to be linked with his signature are London rivals West Ham United.

The Frenchman - who has a fantastic goalscoring record in the Premier League - was on the bench more often than not during the 2016-2017 season and he could move further down the pecking order if the Gunners bring in new players.

Ahead of the World Cup next year, this isn't ideal for Giroud and he has reportedly already stated how he can't continue to be used sparringly. At his age, with his goals record and with his place in the France starting XI also on the line - he needs regular football.

A move back to his home country has been muted with Marseille, Lyon and more Ligue 1 teams interested, while a big money transfer to China or America has been mentioned too.

The latest club to target Giroud though is a little closer to his current home. West Ham - who are keen to spend big this summer to push themselves up the table - would be keen to bring in Giroud to lead their line and would surely guarentee him a starting berth.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Michy Batshuayi are other strikers linked with the Hammers, but Giroud has emerged as their No.1 target as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

Much could depend on whether Arsenal bring in their intended targets and this is definitely a transfer that could have twists and turns throughout the transfer window.
