Dani Alves closes in on Manchester City switch

Juventus Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic (R) celebrates with Juventus Brazilian defender Dani Alves

Dani Alves is set for the Premier League and a reunion with his former manager Pep Guardiola as a move to Manchester City looks likely this summer.

The right-back has only spent a year at Juventus - winning the domestic double - but is keen for a new challenge as he enters the latter stages of his career.

Having spent time in Spain and Italy, Alves will take on the task of trying to impress in England and turn Man City into winners. They have an incredible squad and perhaps his experience will help them secure major honours.

The Brazilian is also used to success while working with Guardiola. The pair had a stunning spell at Barcelona, winning everything possible over a five year period. The Man City boss is likely to be a huge draw for Alves too and perhaps the main reason he is willing to quit Juventus after just one season.

Speaking about Guardiola in the past, he said: "If you turn the word ‘computer’ backwards, it spells ‘Steve Jobs’. If you turn the word ‘football’ backwards, it spells ‘Pep’. He is a genius. I’ll say it again. A genius."

Despite Alves' likely arrival, Man City are still keen on Tottenham's Kyle Walker as a busy summer continues at the Etihad Stadium.
