Morocco and Congo DR will meet at Staded'Oyem on Monday for their opening match of Africa Cup of Nations, in what we believe could be a decisive clash for the 2nd spot in group C.
Congo DR will be provisional hosts at Staded’Oyem against Morocco where both sides hope to bag important points at the sole start of their Africa Cup of Nations 2017 tournament campaigns. Morocco would have been more of a favourites if they haven’t been struggling with injuries recently, but we feel they’ll have what it takes to turn this one their way and snatch the three points in a narrow contest, with a win we’ll back at 29/20 with BetVictor
The Atlas Lions come into the matchup on the back of a narrow loss in a friendly against Finland on Monday and Herve Renard has seen all the troubles he could have later this month. His team have thus ended an unbeaten streak going back to January 2016 and it might have been just what they needed ahead of a tough competition in AFCON Group C, as they’ll now need a confident display and decisiveness to secure the next round.
Congo will be a difficult opponent, but they have struggles of their own as they’ll be missing a couple of key players themselves, including Yannick Bolasie and Benik Afobe. They have suffered a comfortable loss against Cameroon earlier this month and we’ve seen them struggle for consistency throughout the match and we don’t feel they can cause an upset to secure their spot in the final eight.
Herve Renard’s side have been great defensively and they’ll now want to retain the quality without Sofiane Boufal and Nordin Amrabat, who will miss out on the competition for injuries.Atlas Lions have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last 12 outings and Renard will want their back-line to be a pillar of their AFCON success, so we’ll go for Under 2.5 goals here with a banker bet at 19/40 with William Hill
Morocco to keep a clean sheet comes at a generous 6/4 with Ladbrokes
, and we do feel they could decide this one with one goal and trying a correct score prediction and 0-1 away win could now be a lively longshot, backed at 5/1 with the same bookie!
