Looking for Confederations Cup predictions and tips? Here's our top betting tips for the semi-final games which take place this week.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Confederations Cup, it is essentially a smaller-scale rehearsal for next summer’s World Cup in that it gives the Russians some valuable practice at staging a tournament.

Along with the hosts, the competing nations are the holders of the six continental championships – namely Portugal, Chile, Australia (Asia), New Zealand, Mexico and Cameroon – plus 2014 World Cup winners Germany, who are the outright favourites.

The group stages are now over and done with and we're into the semi-final stage with Germany set to take on Mexico and Portugal ready to face Chile.

Here’s our top three bets on the 2017 Confederations Cup for this week:

1) Alexis Sanchez to score at any time in Portugal v Chile at odds of 21/10 with Ladbrokes

Portugal may be favourites to overcome Chile in the semi-final but in the shape of Alexis Sanchez, La Roja possess one of the most dangerous players in the tournament. The Arsenal man has been in fine form in the tournament, scoring twice in his team's three group stage matches.

After his goal in the 1-1 draw with Germany, Sanchez became his country's top goalscorer of all time and fresh from a 30 goal season with his club, the 28 year old will be full of confidence right now and that's why we can't resist odds of 21/10 for a goal at any time from him in this game.

2) Portugal and Chile to draw in 90 minutes @ 9/4 with William Hill

Chile are an unpredictable side at international level. Although they have won the last two Copa America tournaments, they are prone to the occasional strange defeat and we've seen them draw their last two games of the group stages in Russia, one against World Cup holders Germany and one against relative minnows Australia.

Portugal may not be quite as strong as Germany but they're certainly stronger on paper than Australia and we think those two teams are very well matched. The Seleccao also drew one of their group stage games against Mexico and we can see this one going to extra time and possibly even penalties on Wednesday evening.

3) Germany to beat Mexico and both teams to score @ 3/1 with bet365
Both teams were on the scoresheet in all three of Mexico's group stages matches. El Tricolor have looked strong going forward through the likes of Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez but defensively they have left a lot to be desired and we can't see them being able to stop Germany from reaching the final here.

That said, this die Mannschaft squad is a relatively inexperienced one and like their Central American semi-final opponents, they both scored and conceded in all three of their group stage games. As such, we're backing Germany to beat Mexico and both teams to score at odds of 3/1 with bet365.
