Not a great deal to get stuck into with Monday’s football and the German second tier appeals more than the FA Cup first round in terms of betting options.

Jon’s best bet for Monday November 10 – go to Ladbrokes and back 1860 Munich to beat Fortuna Dusseldorf at 15/8

The other options worth considering were Havant & Waterlooville v Preston North End, Atromitos v Asteras in the Greek Super League and Rio Ave v Academica in Portugal, but I’ve sided with the German 2.Bundesliga match as some readers may be able to watch it on ESPN.

There is currently a sizeable gap in the league table between these clubs in favour of away team Fortuna Dusseldorf, who currently hold the promotion play-off place of third spot behind leading duo Ingolstadt (home city of Audi) and Darmstadt 98.

As for 1860 Munich, the club who live at the Allianz Arena in the shadow of their illustrious city rivals Bayern are only just above the drop zone at present, but they did enjoy a confidence-boosting 3-0 win away to Bochum last weekend.

And you would think they should be doing better too, considering some of the players they have in their squad.

On the 1860 Munich books are former Fulham right-back Moritz Volz, his fellow ex-Arsenal youngster Martin Angha who played in the German top flight last term with Nuremberg and also Spanish forward Rodri, who had a spell at Sheffield Wednesday and scored eight La Liga goals for Almeria last season.

They also have this season’s second top scorer in the 2.Bundesliga in the shape of Pakistan-born Austria international striker Rubin Okotie.

Fortuna Dusseldorf’s best-known players are central defender Jonathan Tah, who is on loan from Hamburg, and goalkeeping duo Michael Rensing and Lars Unnerstall with the former getting the nod at present.

After a fairly strong start to the season, goals for tonight’s visiting team have dried up somewhat and they have drawn their last two games 1-1 away to Kaiserslautern and 0-0 at home to Ingolstadt.

With the lift they will have got from their emphatic victory last Sunday, 1860 Munich could represent the value here to claim three points which would enable them to climb into mid-table.

Recommended bet: 1860 Munich to win @ 15/8 with Ladbrokes
