Paris Saint Germain are looking to put their mismatched recent form behind them this Wednesday night as they welcome bottom club Lorient to Parc des Princes.
PSG's season is not going as planned. Les Parisiens have been the dominant force of French football in recent years but this time around they're struggling to assert their dominance and they're currently sitting down in a disappointing third place, with a seven point gap keeping them from current table-toppers OGC Nice and they're even three points behind second placed Monaco.
Following the losses of both manager Laurent Blanc and star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer, it was always going to be a difficult season for PSG although supporters won't have been expecting this and what's more, they face a stern test in the next round of the Champions League too against Barcelona. Quite frankly they need a win here at 2/11 with bet365
FC Lorient's season has been something of a shambles so far. An awful run of form in the opening stages of the season, particularly in September, leaves Bernard Casoni's men sitting bottom of the table and they need more from their key players such as Walid Mesloub and Sylvain Marveaux if they're to escape relegation this season.
Les Merlus have at least shown some signs of improvements in recent weeks, picking up victories in two of their last four Ligue 1 games over Saint Etienne and Rennes and those two results have put them back within touching distance of safety, with just three points separating them 17th. Could they pick up those three points here at 14/1 with Sky Bet
Despite their poor position in the table, Lorient have at least been a threat going forward throughout the season and they have scored at least two goals in each of their last five matches. Cameroonian forward Benjamin Moukandjo has been in particularly solid form, scoring seven league goals and linking up well with the likes of Marveaux and Abdul Waris.
So given how good Lorient have been going forward recently, they can at least expect to find the net at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. The problems are likely to come at the other end and we fancy the likes of Lucas Moura, Edison Cavani and Angel Di Maria to cause them plenty of problems. The home win and both teams to score bet is priced at 13/8 with Ladbrokes
That man Cavani has been shouldering the goalscoring burden left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic fairly well so far this term. The Uruguayan forward has smashed in no fewer than 18 goals in just 17 Ligue 1 appearances and when he's on his game, the ex-Napoli man is one of Europe's deadliest strikers. We can see him grabbing two or more at odds of 11/8 with BetVictor
