Juventus vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions for their Champions League round-of-16 first-leg match in Turin on Tuesday February 13. The Italians are unbeaten in their last 26 home games in European competitions. Read on for our free predictions and betting tips.

Tottenham Hotspur will be trying to end an undefeated sequence for Juventus that stretches back nearly five years when the UEFA Champions League resumes on the eve of St Valentine’s Day.

Not since Bayern Munich triumphed 2-0 at the old Stadio Delle Alpi in April 2013 on their way to lifting the Champions League trophy that season have Juve lost a European match on their own pitch.

That record has clearly played a significant part in why the Italian champions have contested two of the last three finals in Europe’s elite club competition, albeit they ended up comfortably beaten on both occasions by Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But at least Spurs can travel to Turin with the confidence of having enjoyed an excellent group-stage campaign in which they equalled the highest ever points total by an English club, 16 out of 18, finishing ahead of holders Real Madrid and a remarkable 14 clear of Borussia Dortmund.

The only points Tottenham dropped were in a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu Stadium and they impressed throughout their six matches at both ends of the pitch, something that will be important to do again when facing an opponent of Juventus’ quality.

The Italians finished second in their pool behind Barcelona and the fact they scored a total of only seven goals will encourage Spurs to think that if their own attackers can do the business, this is a tie they can advance from if their defence stays strong.

We expect a cagey first leg because the Serie A champions generally like to keep it tight and they should be able to dictate the tempo on their own pitch, but that could suit Spurs for the return match at Wembley and they do appeal at a very backable price to reach the last eight.

Juventus vs Tottenham Hotspur stats

  • This is the first ever competitive match between these clubs, although they met in pre-season friendlies in the summers of both 2016 and 2017
  • Juventus are unbeaten in their last seven matches at home to English opposition, their latest defeat being against Manchester United in 2003
  • Tottenham Hotspur have won only one of their eight away games in Italy, losing four and drawing the other three
