Feyenoord v Manchester City betting preview

Feyenoord make their long-awaited return to the group stages of Europe's elite competition this season. The Dutch side were once regulars at the top table of European football and were even winners of this competition back in 1970. They've also twice been victorious in the Europa League, so fans across Europe will be happy to have them back following last year's Eredivisie title, their first in 18 years.

De Stadionclub will come into this admittedly very difficult fixture on the back of some terrific early season form. After adding yet another trophy to their cabinet by winning the Dutch Super Cup, Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men have begun their domestic league campaign with three wins from three including a 5-0 thumping of Willem II. Can they produce a shock here at odds of 13/2 with BetVictor.

Manchester City will be hoping to kick off their Champions League campaign with a win on Wednesday afternoon as they look to show they're capable of competing with the big boys in the latter stages of the competition this year. The Citizens have never made it to the final but their boss, Pep Guardiola, has enjoyed success in this competition before - so can he lift the famous trophy again?

In the shape of Feyenoord, Shakhtar Donetsk and Napoli, the Citizens have been handed three opponents that will cause them undoubted problems, but who they should overcome should they play to the best of their ability. They come into their opening fixture in this competition following some decent early season form in the Premier League and they're expected to take all three points here, hence odds of 4/9 with Betfred.

With the home advantage, Feyenoord know they'll be expected to try and create chances and they possess some quality attacking players in their ranks too. Manchester City's defensive lynchpin Vincent Kompany is considered an injury doubt for the game and without him, the English side could face problems. We expect them to win, but we're backing the result and both teams to score bet at odds of 2/1 with bet365.

This match will be Gabriel Jesus' first in the Champions League and after the way he took to the Premier League last season, you wouldn't back against him kicking off his UCL career with a goal at any time here. The Brazilian has only bagged one Premier League goal thus far this term, but he has the quality in front of goal to take any chance that comes his way.

Recommended bets:
Man City to win and both teams to score @ 2/1 with bet365
Gabriel Jesus to score at any time
