Arsenal v BATE Borisov betting preview

Arsenal have already secured the top spot in this Europa League Group H which is so tight behind them. As things stand, the Gunners on ten points cannot be caught going into the final group stage match, but any one of the other three teams could be joining the Premier League outfit in the next round. Red Star Belgrade currently occupy the second spot with six points as they face Koln, also on six points, in the final group game, with BATE lurking behind on five.

In order to progress to the next round, the Belarussian side would not only have to produce an incredible performance to take all three points at the Emirates Stadium at odds of 6/1 with Ladbrokes, but they'd also have to hope for a draw in the group's other remaining match in Serbia as Red Star host Koln. As far as boss Aleksandr Yermakovich is concerned though, it'll be a case of trying to upset the odds in North London before worrying about events elsewhere in the group.

Unfortunately for him, his side do come up against the strongest side in the group. Arsenal flexed their muscles in the opening three matches to take three consecutive victories, before a home draw against Red Star Belgrade all but secured them top spot in the group. As such, it's perhaps understandable that they took their foot off the gas somewhat on the trip to FC Koln last time out and the Bundesliga strugglers earned a huge three points with a 1-0 victory.

After a taxing and ultimately frustrating evening's work against Manchester United over the weekend and a potentially tricky away match against Southampton awaiting them on Sunday, you can perhaps forgive Arsene Wenger for wanting to use this match to experiment with his squad and give game time to fringe players while resting big names like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. They still remain favourites to take all three points though at odds of 4/9 with BetVictor.

It's no coincidence though that Arsenal's last two results in this competition have been less impressive since that top position was all but confirmed. BATE know that anything less than the three points won't be enough to take them through to the next round, so they'll be giving it everything they've got, but some of the hosts' talented youngsters will be hoping to stake a claim for a place in Arsene Wenger's starting eleven for more important fixtures. We can see these two sides cancelling each other out and BATE drawing their third consecutive game in all competitions at odds of 4/1 with Paddy Power.

Although these two sides shared six goals in the reverse fixture at Borisov Arena back in September, we're anticipating a less open encounter this time around. In their last three matches in this competition, Arsenal have managed just one goal - but they've conceded just once also, whilst BATE's last European outing ended in a goalless draw at home to Red Star. As such, odds of 6/4 with William Hill for under 2.5 goals in this game do look tempting to us.

Recommended bets:
Match to be drawn @ 4/1 with Paddy Power
Under 2.5 goals @ 6/4 with William Hill
