Brentford vs Man City Tips

Tip 1

Brentford hold the third-best home record in the PL this season, earning seven wins, one draw and two losses – which came against Forest and Arsenal.

Although City’s start to 2025 has been positive, with plenty of signs to suggest they could be returning to their previous formidable form, they aren’t out of the woods yet. Brentford will be Pep Guardiola’s sternest test since facing Aston Villa just before Christmas; a game which they lost 2-1 in the West Midlands.

City’s recent 2-0 win over Leicester at the King Power Stadium was only their fourth victory from 10 league trips this term, and their first from any of the last six.

Better yet, Brentford have bested City twice in the last five meetings and are exactly the type of outfit who can cause Pep’s men plenty of problems if not at their absolute best on the night.

Tip 2

Bryan Mbeumo has 13 goals in 20 appearances this campaign – as many as Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak in the goalscoring charts.

He’s found the net in four of his last six and boasts three strikes in his last two outings.

Nine of his goals have come at the Gtech Community Stadium and the 25 year old also holds a decent record for scoring against strong opposition, including Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal during this current campaign.

Brentford Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Thomas Frank was unwilling to further gamble on his best players outside of league duties as a heavily rotated side were eliminated from the FA Cup third round by Championship basement dwellers Plymouth on Saturday.

The Bees have a growing injury list to blame for their recent dip in form, with Ethan Pinnock, Kristoffer Ajer, Ben Mee, Josh Dasilva, Aaron Hickey, Igor Thiago, Gustavo Nunes and Ryan Trevitt all out.

Brentford Predicted XI: Flekken; Roerslev, Van den Berg, Collins, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt, Damsgaard; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade.

Man City Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

City blitzed through League 2 side Salford City in an emphatic 8-0 third round tie on Saturday evening, meaning the Citizens have now put together three straight wins since the Boxing Day draw with Everton.

Pep Guardiola is still without long-term absentees Ruben Dias, John Stones, Rodri and Oscar Bobb. Kyle Walker is also expected to be excluded following his bombshell exit announcement only a matter of days ago.

Man City Predicted XI: Ortega; Lewis, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol; Kovacic; Foden, Silva, De Bruyne, Savinho; Haaland.
