Join us for the today’s predictions, betting tips, match previews and analysis for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The African Cup of Nations is the major international tournament pitting the national teams of countries from across the continent against each other, much like the European Championships or the Copa America. It takes place every two years and the 2019 edition will be the 32nd tournament to be competed for.
Egypt were the winners of the first tournament back in 1957 and they remain the most successful team in the history of the competition to this day having lifted the trophy no less than seven times in their history. The Pharaohs lost out in the final of the 2017 competition though at the hands of Cameroon who will come into this year’s tournaments as holders and one of the favourites once again.
The African Cup of Nations has been a hindrance to Premier League clubs in the past due to the scheduling of the competition usually clashing with major European leagues. The 2019 tournament, instead of taking place in January and February, will instead be competed for in June and July.
Holders Cameroon were originally scheduled to be the hosts of this year’s tournament, but due to infrastructural delays they were stripped of hosting to the competition and it was instead handed to Egypt. The draw is yet to be concluded, but the hosts will take part in the opening game at the Cairo International Stadium on June 21st.
Here at FootballTips.com we’re looking forward to the African Cup of Nations and as it is played during the summer break for most European leagues we can’t wait to take in some international action to fill the void. As such, we will make sure this, our dedicated AFCON page, is filled with predictions for each round of matches during the tournament.
Once the draw is complete and we know which teams will be facing which in the group stages the outright odds will start to become available and we can start taking a look at the outright markets so be sure to check back on this page for our tips on markets such as outright winner and top scorer.

Our previews include detailed looks into both sides plus head to head stats, predictions and betting tips for the game. The format for the tournament will be similar to that of the European Championships, with 24 teams competing and 16 making it through to the knock-out stages via the groups and every game from Egypt will be covered here.
The 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualification process has now been completed and we know which teams will be competing in Egypt in the summer. As the hosts, Egypt were the team to qualify automatically when the change of venue was announced and alongside them we have three new competitors in Burundi, Madagascar and Mauritiana.
Among the more seasoned nations are former winners Tunisia, Nigeria and the Ivory Coast plus a Senegal side that includes Premier League players Sadio Mane and Cheikhou Kouyate. They won’t be the only Premier League stars on show though as Liverpool’s Mo Salah will lead the line for Egypt, Manchester United’s Eric Bailly and Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha will feature for the Ivory Coast and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez is the talisman for Algeria.
