What is a football accumulator?
Essentially, an accumulator – or ‘acca’ as most people refer to them – is a bet where two or more selections are combined and the odds multiplied to calculate the eventual payout.
There is no limit to the number of selections but you will need to get them all correct for your bet to be a winner – unless there is a consolation offered by the bookmaker, about which you can find out more below.
For instance, if you backed Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona all to win, and they were all at individual odds of 2/1, and you slapped a £10 accumulator on then you would be looking at returns of over £800!
Can I include selections in different markets?
Yes. There are often as many as 200 markets available on a football match so you don’t have to limit yourself to who will win for an accumulator, you can mix and match, but you will generally be able to pick only one selection in each game.
Can I include selections in different competitions and/or on different days?
Yes. As long as odds are available there are few restrictions as long as one outcome does not influence another within the bet. But there may be limitations in terms of any bonuses offered by the bookmakers, as outlined below.
Which bookmaker should I visit to place my accumulator bets?
You can use any, in theory, but we love a bookie who offers either bonus winnings or compensation for a near-miss, and here are some of the best examples:
Euro Soccer Bonus – Increased winnings on all-correct accumulators, rising on a percentage basis according to the number of selections in the bet e.g. 5% for trebles, 10% for fourfolds and fivefolds all the way up to 100% extra for a 14-fold.
Selections must be chosen from Match Result markets, or Match Result/Both Teams To Score, in Champions League, Premier League, Serie A, Primera Liga or Bundesliga 1 games.
